Reigle, Levine Top Winners List at September 6th Crash-A-Rama

.

Clint Reigle used a late race pass in traffic to get by Marty Hughes and claim the victory in the $1000 to win full sized School Bus Figure 8 race at Crash-A-Rama, Round II at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex on Saturday evening, September 6th.

Reigle slipped by Jimmy "Elvis" Gnojek for the lead on the second lap of the 15 lap distance, but Hughes, who started last in the 12 bus field, quickly marched through his competitors to catch and pass Reigle in lapped traffic for the lead on lap 9. However, lapped traffic would bite Hughes back on the 14th circuit, as Reigle was able to re-take the top slot and drive on to the win. Hughes finished second, while James Gialella took third. The race went caution-free.

Massachusetts driver Dave Levine enjoyed a big night as well. Levine bested 18 entries in the 8 lap boat-trailer race, then was part of a winning inter-state connection with Floridian George "Moe" Knauer and Western New Yorker Jay Murphy in capturing the Auto Roller Derby victory.

Holland regular Jason Eck took the 5 lap Skid Car race (skid plates affixed uner the rear wheels), while former Holland regular Al Conte earned the checkers the 8 lap Flagpole race, scoring the win over 25 other entries. The burn-out contest was won by Todd Hittle, while Rod Froebel outlasted the "Pink Piggy" of Tyler Haniszewski in an intense finish to the Mini Van Demo Derby. Nick Haniszewski survived 28 other entries for the victory in the Front Wheel Drive Compact Demolition Derby.

Holland regular J.D. Roberts was tentatively crowned the winner of the 50 lap, $2500 to win 4-cylinder Enduro, but as of this writing, the scoring of the 48 car field was under review.

Fred Sipley thrilled the fans with the Budweiser "Beer Hauler" jet truck, tossing flames, doing short sprints down the oval track chutes, and at the end of the evening, incinerated a scrapped vehicle in a flaming send-off. Earlier in the evening, Jimmy "Elvis" Gnojek successfully ramp jumped over a school bus - however, the landing was not as planned, as the car bounced off the targeted camper trailer and hit the ground upside down - Gnojek emerged unscathed to an appreciative crowd.

Despite a persistant drizzle which lasted until early evening, a large crowd was on hand to enjoy the night of automotive destruction.
