Holland, NY: Although it had been three weeks since the NASCAR Sunoco SST Pro Modifieds were able to beat Mother Nature and get a race in at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex, the Price Brothers picked up where they left off, as Jeff Price of Buffalo , NY led brother Jonathon across the finish line for the second consecutive outing. In other action at the Western New York oval, veteran racer Mike Ticco of Kenmore, NY earned a first ever Holland feature win in the LAMOT Late Model main, Mark Hoch of West Seneca, NY notched win number three of 2008 in the Carquest Charger go, and Jeff Moorhouse of Amherst, NY was awarded the victory in the feature race for the visiting Cup Lites Series. J.D. Roberts of Glenwood, NY raced to a first ever Holland win in the Native Pride Pro Four event, while Ashley Kirchberger of Buffalo rolled to win number four of the season in the Thiel Motorsports Queen Bees dash. Patti Pruitt led the early going of the 40 lap NASCAR Sunoco SST Pro Modified run, while Jon and Jeff Price were working forward from their 10th and 12th starting positions, respectively, in the 17 car grid. Jon Price began pressuring Pruitt for the top spot on lap 13, and after many attempts, finally managed to get a wheel underneath to make the pass on lap 22. After Jon Price opened the door, Jeff Price and Steve Kreitzbender (making his first Holland feature start of the year) quickly followed through to grab second and third. Jeff then began to look for a way to race by his brother and found room to move his Price Brothers trucking mount to the front three laps later. Once out in front, Jeff Price had little trouble pulling away to hold a ½ straightway margin of victory at the checkers. Jon Price kept Kreitzbender at bay to place second, while Joe Evans made a late race run to catch Neil Hopkins on the final lap to grab fourth. In the 20 lap LAMOT Late Model race, Mike Ticco slipped his M&T Service Dodge under early leader Bryce Davis on Lap 9, then kept ahead of a bruising second place battle going on between T.J. Johnson and Alan Fisher . At the finish, Ticco held a three car length margin of victory over Johnson , with Fisher taking third in the caution-free event. The 35 lap feature race for the visiting Cup Lites Series ended in some controversy. Taylor Holdaway had opened up a huge lead, but Scott Wylie , after finally getting by Bobby Holmes for second on lap 27, began to chase down Holdaway. Wylie caught Holdaway at the white flag, and as the pair raced into turn three on the last lap, Wylie made a move to the inside – contact ensued, and both cars got out of shape. Wylie recovered, and dashed to the finish line just ahead of the side-by-side pair of Jeff Moorhouse and Bobby Holmes, while Holdaway straightened out the cross the line fourth. Cup Lites officials determined that Wylie should be placed behind Holdaway in the final order, putting the Atthouse Racing/Hose of Bounce ride of Moorhouse (who just edged Holmes at the line) into victory lane. Rookie racer Donnie Aquino led the first 18 laps of the 30 lap Carquest Charger main, but while trying to fend off a lap 19 challenge from Shawn Lafferty , tangled with a lap car, handing the lead to Lafferty. However, Lafferty’s stay on top was short-lived, as on the re-start, the SPS Temporaries/Urban Inn Malibu of Mark Hoch powered by Lafferty to roll on to the victory. Jerry Kosmowski had a strong run to a runner-up finish, while Lafferty edged defending divisional champ Jim Loffredo at the line to claim third. The undefeated streak of Brandon Hirsch came to an end with a lap 22 wall-banger in the 25 lap Native Pride Pro Four main, as fellow Pro Four rookie J.D. Roberts led the final 18 laps in his Southern Tier Auto Center/Ron’s Collision/Sportstuff Embroidery Nissan for his first career Holland win. Roberts held off late race challenges from Josh Hathaway and Chad Pusloski, with Hathaway just nipping Pusloski for the runner-up slot. Ashley Kirchberger motored her Thiel Motorsports/DeRonde Tire Sales Honda to the lead on the opening lap of the 15 lap Thiel Motorsports Queen Bees run, and held off a race-long challenge from Mae Urban for the victory. Kim Marzec , in her first start of the year, finished third. As a prelude to the regular racing program, the first annual Bar Cup Challenge took place, with representatives from 12 Western New York establishments competing in Speedway provided 4-cylinder strictly stock cars. Separate events were held for bar maids and bar owners, and the Urban Inn of Depew, NY swept both legs of the Challenge. News and Notes -- Jimmy “Elvis” Gnojek, Holland’s resident stunt specialist, thrilled the crowd with another ramp jump, this one through a wall of flames, a boat shell, and into a camper trailer … although Mike Ticco started his racing career at Holland over 30 years ago and picked up heat race wins, he had never earned a Holland feature win in his long, successful career until his Saturday night win … Scott Jarrell made his first LAMOT Late Model start, while Alan Fisher was back with a new ride after virtually destroying his previous car in a Thursday evening practice night incident a few weeks ago – Fisher purchased a former George Skora chassis, and spent considerable time over the past two weeks installing the LAMOT legal engine and components to get the car race ready …Joe Fetzer, coming off a rain shortened Charger win a week earlier, saw any chance for a repeat go up in smoke with serious engine problems early in the race … Kim Marzec back in the driver’s seat of her Queen Bee after giving birth to number one son last month … past Holland Pro Modified track champ Neal Dietz, Jr. made his first visit of the year, and rolled to a top ten finish … former INEX Legends racer Tim Hoegel debuted a new Pro Modified ride, and stayed out of trouble while shaking out the bugs. Action will continue at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex on Saturday, August 23rd, with the re-scheduled George Decker Memorial 100 for the NASCAR Sunoco SST Pro Modifieds, rain-delayed from July 19th, highlighting the program. The LAMOT Late Models, Carquest Chargers, Native Pride Pro Fours, Alliance Auto Recycling Figure 8 Cars, Thiel Motorsports Hornets and Queen Bees, and the INEX Legends will round out the card. Pit gates will open at 3:00 , with grandstand gates opening at 4:00 . Racing will get underway at 6:00 .
