(North East, PA-Saturday, July 5) More than 7,500 fans witnessed the best in “racing entertainment” for “Kwik Fill Night at the Races”. Kwik Fill treated all fans that entered the facility to great prizes and giveaways. Lake Erie Speedway’s newest division, the Dodge Sportmods, started off the “racing entertainment”. Taking the poll for the Sportmods was #11 Casey Swabik, who only got to lead the first lap before #77 Dave McAvoy (Fredonia, NY) took the lead. Caution came out on lap twelve when McAvoy spun out in turn four. #21 Scott Bayle (Erie, PA) then captured the lead from McAvoy. He continued to hold that lead through two more cautions, one being on lap twenty-one off a turn four spin by #75 Bob Fisher. Bayle completed his third victory at Lake Erie Speedway. Finishing second was #32 Eric McCray, and third place went to #14 Carter Mook. Career Concept Legend took the track next wondering if anyone could take the winning streak away from #8 Justin Hines. #39m John Myers took the pole and led the first eight laps. Caution came out on lap ten, when #21 Patrick Lyden spun out in turn four. Leading out of the caution was #25 Steve Sunday with #39 John Myers and #8 Justin Hines behind him. Hines took the lead on lap fifteen and kept it through the second caution, which came out on lap twenty six. Hines was able to capture his fifth straight win at Lake Erie Speedway. Advance Auto Parts Street Stocks were unable to finish their first lap before the yellow flag came out due to problems on the front stretch with #12 Richard Henry and #21 Dave Wilson. #98 Randy Carlson (Randolph, NY) took the lead out of the caution. Taking the lead on lap three was #21 Dave Wilson who then battled for first throughout the rest of the race with #17 Eric Bohrer. Each took turns leading laps, Bohrer on lap seventeen, Wilson on eighteen, and it continued to go back and forth. Bohrer won the battle taking the checkered flag and his very first victory at Lake Erie Speedway. Taking second was #21 Wilson, and finishing third was #83 Russ Conti. Following a short intermission with tons of fan give a ways, the Jensen’s Target Collision Compacts took to the track. #55 Ray Houser took the poll and led the first four laps before being passed by #7 Angela McAvoy, who then won a battle for the lead with #95 Jonathan Breads. McAvoy took the victory, finishing second was #95 Breads, and finishing third was #17m Rich Miller. The Plyler Overhead Door Lake Models had a rough start to their feature race. With two cautions coming out before the second lap was complete and a third caution on the fourth lap the drivers went through a lot of yellow flag line ups. The caution on lap four involved #65 George Skora III, #23 Jimmy Weller, and #3 Jeff Brown who collided right off turn three. With three more cautions in the race, #32 Glenn Gault Jr. spun out #91Greg Hoover on lap twenty eight off of turn four. Both were sent to the back of the restart line. Gault Jr. was later black flagged and forced to leave the track. Taking first was #9 Will Thomas, with second place going to #99 Tim Card, and third place went to #24 Dave Rigan. The Boyer RV Bandoleros finished the night with a twenty lap Regional Qualifier that showcased some regulars to Lake Erie Speedway, as well as, talent from around the region. Taking the poll was #26 Anthony Riforgiato. With only two cautions due to cones on the track, #44 Dillon Bassett (North Carolina) only lost the lead on one lap to #81 Michael Walker. Bassett took first place, with #3 Zac Carter in second place, and #42 Nathan Rodgers taking third place.
