HOLLAND'S AUGUST 28th BUDWEISER 100 |
|
TO FEATURE NASCAR RAGINWOLF.COM PRO MODIFIEDS |

| The Budweiser 100, an annual late season racing tradition at the
Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex since 1964, will undergo a major
change for the 2010 edition. The NASCAR Raginwolf.com Pro Modifieds
will be the featured class in this year’s version of the classic event
at the Western New York oval. The Pro Modifieds, Holland’s featured NASCAR Whelen All-American Series> designated division since 2007, have supported extra distance races in past seasons with large turn-outs, as evidenced by the entry lists in recent George Decker Memorial events. “We felt that by designating the Pro Modifieds as the Budweiser 100 class, we are maximizing the potential for a very successful event,” noted General Manager Tim Bennett. In addition to it’s status as a major annual event, the race will also serve as Holland’s final date for the 2010 Holland-Spencer Sportsman Modified Challenge Series, presented by Hoosier Tires of WNY and Sunoco Race Fuels. (The July 31st race at Holland, originally slated to be Holland’s final date for the Holland-Spencer Series, will now be a regular weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series race for Holland’s NASCAR Raginwolf.com Pro Modifieds.) The “open” Late Model division, the current version of the class which evolved from the Modern Stocks of the original 1964 race, had been the featured division for the Budweiser 100. “This was a very difficult decision,” Bennett admitted. “There has been a long tradition of the Late Models racing in the Budweiser 100, and we were hoping to maintain that tradition. But we have been concerned about the entry numbers –– in 2009, we drew just 19 cars for this race, and we saw that number potentially dropping further for a Late Model race this year.” Tim also noted that the opportunity for a Late Model class returning as the featured division for the Budweiser 100 in future seasons is a possibility. “We would like to keep the door open to make this race a Late Model race once again. There has been slow, but steady growth in the Late Models of Tomorrow division. If the numbers increase sufficiently in years to come, we would consider making the Budweiser 100 the annual highlight race for this class.” For 2010, Bennett is optimistic about the change just a little more than a month prior to the race date. “We are currently putting together the purse structure for this race. I’m sure we’ll be attracting a number of the Modified Sportsman competitors from Wyoming County, Spencer, and Chemung to make the trip to Holland on August 28th and compete with our home track racers in this prestigious event - it should be a great night. ” |
