(North East, PA – Saturday July 3, 2010) Fans piled into Lake Erie Speedway Saturday night for an evening filled with racing, an On Track Autograph session, and a fireworks extravaganza presented by Homestead Oak, Inc. Before the first feature race of the night, thousands of fans made their way on to the track for an autograph session and a chance to talk to their favorite drivers. The Plyler Overhead Door Late Model Feature started off tonight’s races and #91 Greg Hoover of Wattsburg, PA lead from the beginning to end to the win the first of two thirty lap Late Models Features. Even through multiple cautions, Hoover was able to hold on to the top spot. Although #24 Dave Rigan of Williamsville, NY trailed closely behind for the entire race, he was never able to steal first place. Third place went to current points leader, #9 Will Thomas of Sharpsville, PA and #65 George Skora III of Eden, NY took home fourth. Current points leader #51 Jamie Hebner of Fredonia, NY took home his third win of the 2010 season in tonight’s Jensens Target Collision Compacts Feature. Hebner grabbed the top spot from #28 Jay Johnson of Fairview, PA around the turn at lap four and was able to hold on until the end of the race. #95 Jonathan Breads of Westfield, PA took the second place spot, while Johnson finished in third. Tonight’s third race was twelve laps for the Bandoleros and it kept the fans in suspense from beginning to end. At lap two, a brutal crash forced # 23 Devon Moore of Corry, PA out of the race. Just four laps later, #97 Darrin Waldron of Stockton, NY spun out of control and stopped the race for a second time. After many cautions though, Victory Lane saw a familiar face finish in first. #26 Anthony Riforgiato of Portland, NY won his fourth race this year and added to his 254 points. #81 Michael Walker of McKeesport, PA finished in second while #97 Darrin Waldron of Stockton, NY placed third. The Street Stocks Feature was fourth to race tonight and #21x Dave Wilson of Hamburg, NY gained a strong lead from his opponents and never let up to get his second win of the season. The battle for second was extremely close and came down to the very end, but #21 Lexi Wilson was able to edge out #51 Ryan Corso of Atlanta, NY. #71 Rich Miller of Sinclairville, NY took home fourth and #17 Zach Myers of Holland, NY finished fifth respectively. In the fifth race of the night, #27 Jake Vernon of Eden, NY took home first place in the Career Concepts Legends Feature and got his first win of the season. Two crashes paused the race at lap sixteen and twenty, but Vernon was able to keep his momentum going and hold on to his lead. Current points leader #39 Jeremy Haudricourt of Bliss, NY finished the race was the Legends second place finisher, #21L Patrick Lyden of Erie, PA was third and #25 Steve Sunday of Dewittville, NY was fourth. #28 Dale Murdock of Sherman, NY took advantage of a caution at lap fifteen and stole the lead from #21m Mitch Fralick of Clymer, NY. Fralick led for the first fourteen laps until the caution sent #32 Eric McCray of Corry, PA off the track and paused the race. Murdock sped away from the pack as soon as the green flag was waved to restart the race. #17jr James-Paul Weisser of Pittsburgh, PA fell into second, #5c Tim Card of Asheville, NY took home third and fourth place belonged to #24 Randy Culver of North East, PA. The final race of the night saw the Plyler Overhead Door Late Models out for another go. #56 Rich Skora of Eden, NY held on until the very end and finished the race in first place. Skora is currently in second place with 239 points. #65 George Skora III, also of Eden, finished close behind in second and #55 Matt Barndt of Bethlehem, PA was the race’s third place finisher. Next Friday and Saturday is a Special Event Weekend as Monster Jam Summer Heat will be visiting Lake Erie Speedway. Most divisions will be back in action July 17th for the Lake Erie 150.
