LAKE ERIE SPEEDWAY

.

(North East, PA – Saturday, July 24, 2010) The rain stayed away and all six divisions were back at Lake Erie Speedway as the Career Concepts Legends raced fifty laps in the National Qualifier.

In the first race of the night, the Jensens Target Collision Compacts saw last week’s winner #95 Jonathan Breads of Westfield, NY get his second consecutive and third win of the season. Breads grabbed the lead from #43 Jason Johnson of Pierpont, OH at lap two and was able to keep that position until the end. After sneaking into fourth position at lap eight, #51 Jamie Hebner of Fredonia, NY moved ahead and challenged Breads for first place but was never able to pass him. Second place went to Hepner, third went to #34b Brandon Huffman of Corry, PA, and fourth went to #96 Greg Irish of Brocton, NY.

#26 Anthony Riforgiato of Portland, NY has become quite familiar with Victory Lane in the Bandoleros Feature. Riforgiato got his fifth win of the season and added to his current points total of 365. #81 Michael Walker of McKeesport, PA tried to steal the top spot, but there was too much space between first and second position for Walker to take over. #71 Tyler McArdle of Edinboro, PA took home third, #33 Melissa Brockman of Eden, NY was fourth, and #97 Darrin Waldron of Stockton, NY was fifth.

The Street Stocks was a competition from beginning to end while #21 Lexi Wilson of Hamburg, NY edged out  #51 Ryan Corso of Atlanta, NY to get the win. #01 Leslie Bohrer of Harborcreek, PA held the lead for the first four laps, but fell back as she lost the rear of her car and was forced to exit the track to remove it. Corso was able to take over first for a few laps, until Wilson came to battle him. After multiple cautions, #88 Tim Garlock pulled ahead into first place at lap sixteen, but continued to alternate between first and second with Wilson.  Following a caution that sent current points leader, #21x Dave Wilson of Hamburg, NY, off the track, Lexi gained momentum and plenty of space at lap twenty two to secure another win in her rookie season. Corso captured second, #37 Drew Case of Hamilton, OH was third, and #78 Chris Crossman of Ripley, NY finished in fourth.

In the night’s big race, the Career Concepts Legends race fifty laps compared to their usual twenty five in the National Qualifier. #16 Alex Pachco ran away with the race after taking a strong lead around turn three on lap twelve. Pachco was battling for second with #25 Steve Sunday of Dewittville, NY and soon found himself in first place, far from his competitors. While Pachco had his lead secure, #8 Mike Alcaro and Sunday battled for second place for a good portion of the race, but at the end Alcaro was able to take home that spot. Third place went to #98 Brett Coon of Elma, NY, and fourth was #27 Jake Vernon of Eden, Ny.

At lap ten of the Modifieds Feature, #77 Dave McAvoy of Fredonia, NY stole the lead from #24 Randy Culver of North East, PA to claim tonight’s first place spot. McAvoy was able to create enough space between himself and his opponents that no one was able to catch up to him. Near the end of the race, #17jr James-Paul Weisser of Pittsburgh, PA rapidly moved into second place and was able to finish the race there. Culver took the third place spot, #32 Eric McCray of Corry, PA was fourth, and #21m Mitch Fralick of Clymer, NY was the Modifieds fifth place finisher.

In the night’s final race, the Plyler Overhead Door Late Models, #91 Greg Hoover of Wattsburg, PA didn’t lose his momentum through multiple cautions and got his second win of the 2010 season. #55 Matt Barndt of Bethlehem, PA was in second place for most of the race and was able to finish there, while #65 George Skora III of Eden, NY took home third after established that position around lap twenty five, and #47 Scott Wylie Jr. of Blasdell, NY was fourth place.

Next Saturday, July 31st, will feature all six divisions for the second consecutive week for the “Ponderosa Steakhouses Night at the Races”!
