POINTS BATTLES SHAPING UP AS HOLLAND ROLLS INTO JULY

.

As the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex takes its traditional bye week around the Independence Day holiday, the divisional points standings are taking shape as the drivers prepare for the second half push to the championships.

In the NASCAR Raginwolf.com SST Pro Modifieds, only 2 markers separate leader Mike Fiebelkorn, Jr. from runner-up Justin Shepker, 193-191.  Fiebelkorn is looking for a second title to match his 2007 crown, while Shepker is eyeing his first opportunity at a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track title.   Joe Evans and Don King remain within striking distance, 29 and 32 points, respectively, in back of Fiebelkorn.

Leader Eldon King III and 2008 champ T.J. Johnson sit a tight 4 points apart in the chase for the Late Models of Tomorrow title, while third place Joe Carbone is just an additional 6 points back.  Hoping to defend his 2008 Charger title, Mark Hoch holds a mere 5 point edge over Dave Krawczyk, 184-179, while consistency has put Shawn Lafferty in third, just another 8 points in arrears.

A grand total of 14 points separates first from fifth in the Pro Fours standings, with Nik Welshans at 199 points holding the current advantage over J.D. Roberts, Jason Eck, Josh Hathaway, and Chad Pusloski.  2007 Figure 8 Car champ Jason Eck has a scant 3 point edge over 2008 divisional champ “Mad Mike” Eckam, 193-190,  in the ‘09 M&M U-Pull-It Figure 8 Car standings, with Jason Adams close by in third, just 6 points in back in Eckam.

Samantha Lutz holds a 17 point bulge over the deadlocked duo of Kim Marzec and Sylvia Miszczak in the ladies-only Queen Bees standings, while Kim is just 7 points in back of leader Jeff Szafraniec in the Thiel Motorsports 4-cylinder Hornets chase - Szafraniec is the only points leader not yet to have benefited from an ‘09 divisional feature win.

Holland will race back into action on Saturday, July 11th, as the National Guard will present a full racing program featuring mid-season championships for the NASCAR Raginwolf.com SST Pro Modifieds, Late Models of Tomorrow, Chargers, and Pro Fours – the Charger main event will be a 50 lap Race of Champions qualifier.  Also on the program will be the INEX Legends and another special appearance by the Casey’s TQ Midget Series.  The Thiel Motorsports Hornets and Queen Bees will be off until the July 18th race date, when both divisions will have their mid-season championship events.

The July 11th date at Holland will also be Toys for Tots - Christmas in July day.  Any fan bringing a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots will receive a $5 discount off of the grandstand admission price.

On the 11th, grandstand gates will open at 5:15 PM
with the evening’s racing activities getting underway at 7:15.
