MARZEC FAMILY SWEEPS TO MEMORIAL DAY HOLLAND WINS
J.L. MILLER TAKES FASTER PASTOR TITLE

.

The Marzec Family celebrated Memorial Day in a big way at the Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex on Memorial Day Monday, as Eric Marzec of West Seneca, NY led niece Kim Marzec of South Wales, NY across the line to finish 1-2 in the Thiel Motorsports 4-cylinder Hornet main.  Earlier, Kim had earned the victory on the ladies-only Queen Bee event.

In other Monday action at the Western New York oval, Jeremy Haudricourt of Bliss, NY copped the initial 2009 main for the INEX Legends, Pat Spruce of Cattaraugus, NY took the 8-cylinder strictly stock dash, and Paster J.L. Miller of the Baker United Methodist Church captured the annual Faster Pastor championship.

Eric Marzec put his Marzec Construction/Southern Tier Auto Center/Nickel City Shirt Company Dodge at out front at the opening green of the 30 lap Hornet go, but by lap 5, had some company in the form of Eric Brown.  Brown and Marzec traded the lead on a couple of occasions until Brown was forced out of the race with an overheating problem.  Kim Marzec, who had worked her way up from the ninth starting> spot, took over second, but could not track down her uncle, as at the checkers, Eric held a nearly full straightaway advantage over Kim.  0D Jammer Mueckl drove a steady race to claim third in the final run down.   This marked the second consecutive season that Eric Marzec won the Holland season opener for the Hornet division.

Mae Urban opened up a large lead in the early going of the 12 lap Queen Bees main, but Kim Marzec steadily worked her Marzec Construction/Southern Tier Auto Center/Nickel City Shirt Company Dodge forward challenge and take over the top slot on lap nine.  Mae held on for second, while Samantha Lutz placed third in the caution-free race.

Jeremy Haudricourt led all 15 circuits of the INEX Legends main.  Brad Salatino made a late race run, but could not get closer than five car lengths to Haudricourt at the finish.  Brett Coon took third in the caution-free race.   Earlier, in the Legends qualifying heat, Brett Sager had a throttle stick wide open and slammed the turn three guard rail – Sager was uninjured, but his entry was virtually destroyed.

Due to a light turn-out of strictly stock V-8 entries, the scheduled> enduro was replaced by a 10 lap dash, in which Pat Spruce held off the race-long challenges of Tim Garlock for the win.

Pastor J.L. Miller battled with Orchard Park Wesleyan’s Pastor Ray Selden in the early stages of the 6-lap Faster Pastor finale before pulling away to score the victory ahead of runner-up Pastor Doug Flitcroft from the Letchworth New Life Fellowship.   Six 4-lap heat 0D races for the competing priests, ministers, and lay representatives  from area churches were held, with the winners advancing to the final round.
