Mother Nature Notches Another Win at Dunn Tire Raceway Park

Lancaster, New York – Mother Nature was the victor once again at Dunn Tire Raceway Park as speedway officials were forced to cancel the night’s stock car events due to persistent rain showers at the track.

“We really tried our best to get the show in, consulting with numerous weather forecasters about the timing of the rain.  Unfortunately, we were once again forced to cancel when the persistent drizzle and sprinkles would not let up”, commented Director of Stock Car Events Lori Overdorf.

The Tommy Druar & Tony Jankowiak Memorial Modified 50 will be rescheduled, although no date has been set yet. 

Just four regular season races are left in the Dunn Tire Raceway Park stock car schedule and each is jam packed with exciting racing action and fun promotions. 

Next week is the fan favorite “Autograph Night” where fans can come down and meet their favorite drivers on the frontstretch.  In addition it is the rescheduled “Spirit Night”, where fans in the stands are encouraged to dress up in their favorite drivers colors and cheer them on to Victory Lane.

Saturday, August 22^nd is “Emergency Responders Night” at DTRP where all police, fire, and EMT personnel with valid identification will receive $5 off grandstand admission.  It is also “Stop DWI Night” and multiple police agencies from across New York State will be on hand for a large police car parade.

The Modified points final is on tap for Saturday, August 29^th.  It is also a night for the ladies as DTRP will host a “Driver Bachelor Auction”.  Seven eligible drivers will be auctioned off to the highest bidder with all proceeds benefiting Mercy Flight of Western New York and the Spalding Foundation for Injured Drivers.

The final regular season race of the stock car season is scheduled for Saturday, September 5^th.  “Fan & Driver Appreciation Night” will feature various giveaways from DTRP sponsors.  The night will also feature 50 lap features for the Street Stocks and SST Sportsman.

The 21^st Annual US Open will round out the 2009 stock car season at DTRP and is scheduled for September 18^th, 19^th, and 20^th.  The event will feature the Race of Champions Modifieds, SST Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks, Super Stocks, 4 Cylinders, and TQ Midgets.  More information regarding the event will be released shortly.
