July
31, 2009- In
regular Friday night racing action, repeat
victories went to John Lacki in the Emerling Resale Center FASTRAK Late
Models, Adam Sixt in the Street Stocks, Nick Snayczuk in the Mini
Stocks, and John Ellwood in the pure stocks. Darren Tarabori of
Galeton, PA picked up his first win of the season in the E-mods.
Yet
again, John Lacki (7) of Sinclairville picked up the win in the FASTRAK
Late Model Division. The win allowed him to extend his already
strong points lead over former Freedom Raceway Super Stock champion Tim
Schram (1s) who was recorded with an 11th place finish on the night.
Newcomers to the
speedway Jim Frank (14*) and Derek Frank (16*) took 2nd and 3rd,
respectively.
The always competitive
E-mod field was bested on July 31 by the V-6 powered machine of Darren
Tarabori (6). Tarabori had been very competitive in his last two
starts at AIR, and would come from 5th to take the victory. Kyle
Bedell (44) matched his previous week’s finish to score back-to-back
second places. John Woodward (18) scored a 3rd place finish,
allowing him to overtake the points lead from Al
Brewer (71).
Adam Sixt (6T) had been
absent for the last few weeks at AIR, but his return was a triumphant
one as he took the win over two of the best in the Street Stock
division; Andy Michael (17x) and Chris Austin (22A). The result still
leaves Andy Michael with a large lead over Sixt in the points, with Joe
Layfield (121) between the two. There are still enough races to go
however that any of the three could take the
championship.
Nick Snayczuk (12)
grabbed his second win of the season on July 31st. He was followed
across the line by Dave Burdick (47) in his best finish of the season
and Chis Paar (9x) in his second start at AIR. In the Mini Stock
division at AIR, it’s anyone’s game to win the points as only 136
points now separate the trio of Levi Watson (26), Nick Snayczuk, and
Brad Ullman (46x).
For the second week in a
row, it was John Ellwood (27) of Centerville taking the win in the pure
stocks. Zach Hamer matched his season high finish with a second
place, followed by Curt Pastorius (42) in third. The points battle in
the Pure Stock division is the closest of all at AIR. George
Conkey (11x), John Ellwood, and Curt Pastorius are separated by only 68
points.
